Behind Those Books Documentary (Extended Trailer)
Gangsta, erotica and soap opera-style pulp pervades the Urban literature landscape instead of more serious fiction or culturally aware books. To some it's just a crass glorification of the messed up just to get a dollar, to others it's entertainment and still, others view it as a step in the right direction towards a more vibrant readership in the urban community. As long as people are reading something, that's a good thing, right?
Enter documentary Behind Those Books. It tries to parse the landscape of people involved in the literature biz and find out what is motivating the expanding genre of Street Literature.
Behind Those Books is executive produced by Mark Manderson and Elaine Watkins, written and produced by Kaven Brown, edited & directed by Mills Miller with Franchesca Ho Sang serving as associate producer.

13 Assassins (Sneak Peek)
Opening in US theaters in April is Japanese director Takashi Miike's (Audition, Ichi The Killer) remake of Jusan-ni no shikaku (1963). This sword-slashing action flick was recently was part of the South By South West festivities.
13 out-of-work Samurai, are out on a do-or-die mission to stop an slave-driving evil Lord with an eye on the Shogun title. This time around Takashi reduces the outrageous body count his movies are (in)famous for, while a creating an authentic period piece with tons of slasher action that made a reviewer dub it "the Asian version of 300."
The film is available on Video on Demand starting today and is viewable in it's 141 minute theatric awesomeness on April 29th. Check out a sneak peak of the movie.

Jasiri X - "Three Little Girls" feat Hadiyah Yates (Video)
Politically vocal, Pittsburgh MC Jasiri X brings us something to think about for Women's History Month. He also recently shot a video in Wisconsin during the recent Union protests and got attention last year for the song What If The Tea Party Was Black?
Directed by Paradise Gray.
For Woman's History Month we wanted to shed light on how violent this society is especially towards woman and girls. "Three Little Girls" tells the stories of the senseless murders of Christina Taylor Green who was killed during the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Brisenia Flores who was gunned down by anti-immigrant militia intent on starting a race war, and Aiyana Jones who shot to death while asleep in her home, by the Detroit Police Department, while they were filming a reality TV show.
I realize these are sad stories, but how can we not be moved to action by the cold-blooded killings of innocent little girls? We have to begin to take an unflinching look at a culture that continues to glorify guns, bombs, and war and sees violence and aggression as the only solutions to its problems.
Directed by Paradise Gray.
Lloyd - "Cupid" (Video)
The latest single from Lloyd, and he shows recovery. At least the crooning here is much better than it was on "Lay It Down."

The Big Bang (Trailer)
The movie stars Antonio Banderas, Sienna Guillory, William Fichtner, Sam Elliott, Delroy Lindo, James Van Der Beek, Snoop Dogg and Bill Duke. We'd love to see Delroy Lindo in any other role apart from a brow beating cop one of these days, but we can live with him being in a fast-paced noir shooter.
Banderas is a private detective in the hunt for a missing stripper and must dodge a mean-spirited russian boxer and the LAPD for starters in this dark roller coaster directed by Tony Krantz who has a long history as a producer in TV and film including The PJs, 24, and Felicity.
Props: Slashfilm.
